Hey there my old friend, how you doing how you been
Buy us a drink and I'll get you in a magazine
Don't smile like that now, would I lie to you
Everyone dreams about being famous, I can make your dreams come true
I'm normally in with the in crowd but I just popped out
I'm one of those high life bastards I'm always reading about
I know the clubs that never shut and the parties that never end
But I can't step inside the circle line without meeting an old friend
And I know the Name
And I know the Name
I'm gonna hold onto what I've got

And I know the name, and I know the name
I'm gonna hold onto what I've got

I shared the Name's champagne when he got his first number one
I'd be running some little errands for him from when the day was done
Anyone worth reading used to get their tips from me
I showed up in a couple of videos in 1983
Come on, get us another never and I'll tell you all
Dish the dirt on anyone you want, larger or small
Well the Name was a name with no brain, he didn't deserve no success
Shot his mouth once too often and I sold his story to the press
And I know the name, and I know the name
I'm gonna hold onto what I've got

And I know the name, and I know the name
I'm gonna hold onto what I've got

I can see by the cut of the cloth that you're doing alright
I know you play rock 'n' roll in a pub every Monday night
And it's nice to talk to someone with both feet on the ground
Get us in another, I just stay here they shut it down
All those would-be creative shitheads I know are going stale
Well they sit behind their desks and they worry that they're gonna fail
And you know it'll hit me the same way when I'm twenty three
And my phone was cut off in April and I've not been home for weeks
But I know the Name
Yeah I know the Name
I'm gonna hold onto what I've got
And I know the Name
And I know the Name
I'm gonna hold onto what I've got
Yeah I know the name, and I know the name
Do you wanna hold onto what I've got

And I know the name, do you wanna know the name
Do you wanna hold onto what I've got

Commentary

The B-Side of 'Love Your Shoes'. Our B Sides tended to be experiments or odd ideas that weren't intended for an album. This pisstake of mid 80s Soho was a bit of both and was recorded in about 2 hours.
