It Continues

Gather round and let me tell you lies
There is only one thing worth your time
But I would gladly cash my chips anyhow
For twenty seconds here and now
It continues to be fact
You can't beat that minute when
Two lonely lives began to overlap
And all the answers come
Transformation's done
And you're so much more than one
It continues to be fact
You'll argue when it lets you down
It's enough sometimes to count you out
Before too long it's going to get hard
To hide how desperate you are
It continues to be fact
You can't beat that minute when
Two lonely lives began to overlap
And all your answers come
Transformation's done
And you're so much more than one
It continues to be fact
It continues to be fact
You can't beat that minute when
Two lonely lives began to overlap
And all your angels come
The transformation's done
You feel so much more than one
It continues
It continues to be
It continues to be fact
This is my favourite song
And you're not here to share it
Everybody's dancing close
I don't think I can bear it
I'm putting all these records on
So they can hold on tight
This was our favourite one
Why aren't you by my side
All the angels come
Gather round, let me tell you all those lies
That's how it is with love sometimes

Commentary

This is one of our own recordings which I've always found strangely mesmerising, a song which came out of nowhere, just accreted in the studio, and has a little bit of all of us in it. It appeared as the extra track on a CD single for One Step Behind You, some years later.
